Our Story

Barnaby's is a friendly and inviting place that serves great pizza and sandwiches. We take pride in the quality of the cheese, sausage, pepperoni and fresh vegetables that we’ve used on our pizzas since 1969. We’re standbys in the South Bend area for catering, business lunches, family dinners, birthday parties, or after the game, and South Bend has chosen us as their favorite pizza for eight years running. Barnaby’s brings the best together!

The Barnabys story begins with George S. Stratigos. In September 1969 he met Robert and George Geocaris, the founders of the original Barnaby’s franchise. His vision and the dedication of severeal long-term employees--general manager, John Spagnola, 40 years, Glen Wills, 32 years, and Stan Dickens, 31 years-- has made it a favorite family pizza restaurant in the area for 40 years. Proprietor John Stratigos comes from a long and colorful family restaurant tradition. Grandfather Spyridon Stratigos owned and operated the Stratigon Grille in downtown South Bend for 43 years and built his family home at the current site of Barnaby’s on Jefferson. After his retirement, Spyridon’s son, George, and his partners replaced the family home with the Barnabys restaurant. Now, 41 years later, George’s son John is looking forward to bringing quality food and friendly service to the next generation of families in the South Bend area.
